Oggi stavo girando in bici per Downtown quando ho sentito provenire da una strada parallela un potente suono di tamburi accompagnato da canti tribali e antichi.
Ho seguito quella musica e mi sono trovato nel mezzo di un evento chiamato Kiitaamoko Passkaan (che vuol dire "tutti ballano" in lingua indigena).
A quanto pare la fortuna ha giocato a mio favore perché questa celebrazione della durata di una giornata si tiene solo una volta all'anno.
In questi raduni chiamati Powwow i membri delle tribù di Nativi Americani celebrano e mostrano attraverso le loro danze e cerimonie questa spettacolare cultura invitando chiunque a unirsi a loro.
La magia che sono riusciti a creare attraverso i colori e i sorrisi è stata resa ancora più spettacolare quando a fine evento hanno deciso di regalare a tutti i presenti dei doni che i membri della comunità insieme all'associazione benefica "Inn from the Cold" hanno messo a disposizione.
Non accettare il presente era considerata un'offesa così ho ricevuto da uno dei capi tribù una coperta e due paia di calze che con una stretta di mano e un abbraccio sincero mi ha ringraziato di aver partecipato.
È quando non ci pensi che la vita ti sorprende e questo evento ne è stata la dimostrazione.

Today I was riding my bike around Downtown when I heard from a parallel street a powerful sound of drums accompanied by tribal and ancient songs.
I followed that music and found myself in the middle of an event called Kiitaamoko Passkaan (which means "everyone dances" in the indigenous language).
Apparently luck worked in my favor because this day-long celebration is held only once a year.
At these gatherings called Powwow, members of Native American tribes calebrate and show through their dances and ceremonies this spectacular culture, inviting anyone to join them.
The magic they managed to create through colors and smiles was made even more spectacular when at the end of the event they decided to give everyone in attendance gifts that community members along with the "Inn from the Cold" charity provided.
Not accepting the present was considered an offense so I received a blanket and two pairs of socks from one of the tribal leaders who with a handshake and a sincere hug thanked me for participating.
It is when you don't think about it that life surprises you and this event was proof of that.
